What Happens Here Every Spring
Spring is the fullest stretch of the Eureka Springs events calendar. The town runs an event almost every weekend from the middle of March through the end of May, and most of them repeat year after year.
- March brings the St. Patrick's Day parade and pub crawl downtown, the Chocolate Lover's Market, Eureka Fiber Fest, the Victorian Classic race, and the Kite Festival at Turpentine Creek.
- April is the heaviest month: Diversity Weekend, the Eureka Music Awards, the Ozark Mountain UFO Conference, Carving in the Ozarks, the Steampunk Festival, Spring Fling Bike Rally, and the town-wide Yards and Yards of Yard Sales.
- May closes the season with the Artrageous Parade, the International Food Festival at Opera in the Ozarks, Blues Weekend, and Thunder on the Mountain over Memorial Day.

What to Do in Eureka Springs in Spring
The dogwoods and redbuds come out along the bluffs in late March and early April, and the whole valley changes color for about three weeks. It is the one time of year the Ozarks look the way the postcards promise.
Daytime temperatures sit in the sixties and seventies through most of the season, which makes spring the best hiking window of the year. Lake Leatherwood and Black Bass Lake are both a few minutes from the property, the Historic Loop is walkable from downtown, and Beaver Bridge and the Pig Trail are close enough for an afternoon drive.
Downtown is fully open by March. The shops, galleries and restaurants that keep short winter hours are back to normal, the trolley is running, and the gardens around the springs are in bloom.
The one thing to plan around is rain. April is the wettest month here, so bring a jacket and have an indoor afternoon in mind. A cabin with a covered deck and a fireplace is a good place to spend one.
What to Pack and When to Book
What to pack. Layers. Mornings start in the forties and afternoons reach the seventies, often on the same day. Bring a rain jacket, shoes you do not mind getting muddy, and something warm for sitting on the deck after dark. The fireplaces stay lit through May.
When to book. Spring weekends fill early, second only to October. Nine units is not many, and the festival weekends in April fill first. If you have a particular weekend in mind, book it well ahead rather than close in.
Midweek in spring is the quiet secret. Same weather, same dogwoods, far fewer people on the trails and in the restaurants, and a much easier time getting the unit you actually want.
